Chinese Friends and Chinese Food!

In January, we attended a welcome dinner for international students, hosted by a church here in Marietta. While there, we met a student from Vietnam and several who had just arrived from China and were beginning their first semester at Southern Polytechnic State University (SPSU). The following weekend we saw them at another event and invited six of them to our house for dinner a week later. We had a a lot of fun together at our house, and they said they wanted to make a Chinese meal for us sometime.

So just before noon last Saturday, we picked up (from left to right in the lower picture) Jun, Xiao, Ziren, and Tan (the other three Asians in the picture are our kids!) and went to a nearby International Farmers Market to shop. Then to our house to watch them and help them prepare a feast -- eight different Chinese dishes!

We're really enjoying developing a friendship with these students. It's a joy to be able to get to know them, try to make their stay in our country a little easier and more enjoyable, and communicate the love of Jesus to them.

Sistes 4 Sisters

Abby got a new sister this last weekend. She was invited to be a part of a group of girls that are the only girls in the family. Then she got matched up to be a big sister with one of the younger girls (Caroline). These pictures were taken at the tea party. Caroline and her family are in church with us so they can see each other weekly there and perhaps plan some more get togethers.

I'm so excited. I know how many girls that I look and looked up to (Jennie and Julianne I love you) and I hope that I can be a godly girl that other girls look up to, too. I love you Caroline!!
